FAIRBANKS CHILDREN'S MUSEUM
Core Mission Support

"It is easier to build strong children than it is to repair broken men" -Frederick Douglass

The Fairbanks Children's Museum is a non profit organization and unique resource in our community.  In 2017, FCM's total attendance was 41,126 people!  Through exhibits and programmings, all young children are invited to learn through playful experiences. These programs and experiences only are made possible with the hard work of museum educators. These talented educators are dedicated to the mission of the museum: connecting and inspiring families through discovery and the power of play. Museum educators play a key role in designing, planning, preparing for, and facilitating programs. Educators keep the exhibits clean and working, and even sometimes create new exhibits!  Educators keep the museum tidy and sanitary and are always happy to help parents and caregivers in working with their children. Without them, the museum wouldn't work.

This project's budget will fully fund one month's salary for one FCM educator!  Let's support our local Children's Museum and ease just a small portion of their fundraising burden for the coming fiscal year!

Total cost of project: $2,500.00

More about FCM: The Fairbanks Children's Museum promotes the five Protective Factors (the focus of the Strengthening Families Alaska strategy) in a friendly and accessible environment. These factors build strong families through:

-Parental Resilience
-Social Connections
-Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development
-Concrete Support in Times of Need
-Healthy Social and Emotional Child Development

FCM Community access programs (Museums for All discounts, free passes available at all libraries, Blue Star Museum program for active duty military) mean that all community members have a point of access and benefit at the museum.  In 2017, FCM partnered with over 40 educational and nonprofit organizations to expand museum programming with the help of outside experts and to provide community resource connections. One favorite partnership pairs a Fairbanks Children's Museum educator with the Kids Cafe program at Bread Line, bringing art and place-making activities to the food-based children's volunteer program so that the cafe can be cheerful for Bread Line guests!

Total cost of project: $2,500.00
