Fairbanks Emergent Needs During COVID-19

The mission of Our 2 Cents Fairbanks Inc. has always been to identify local needs, connect our donors and community to those needs, fund raise and deliver!  With the advent of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we're all living through an unprecedented crisis that is affecting every aspect of our lives - and it is a time that is disproportionately affecting those in our community who are the most vulnerable. Our efforts at O2C in the coming weeks and months will focus on providing for those who are most in need and most vulnerable.  While the scope of what is needed to meet this moment feels overwhelming, it is our belief that every good intention, every act of service and every need fulfilled is impactful.  We can all make a difference!

GLOVES AND SOCKS FOR STONE SOUP CAFE - 100% FUNDED AND DELIVERED

We reached out to our friends at The Bread Line/ Stone Soup Cafe to see what we could do to help right now, during this ongoing and unprecedented time. It has been a very long, very cold winter in Fairbanks - and while warm temperatures are certainly in our future - we have a ways to go before the temperatures are above freezing through the night. With more and more of our most vulnerable residents spending more time outside than usual, Stone Soup Cafe employees were seeing a lot of frost nipped and frost bit fingers and toes.

So Our 2 Cents went shopping and purchased 48 pairs of warm gloves from AIH and 57 pairs of Smart Wool Socks from Big Ray's, and delivered a total of $675 of gloves and socks to our friends at the Stone Soup Cafe, to be distributed as needed to their guests, in the coming days and weeks.  This project was delivered on April 13th, 2020.
