Support For Leslie's Children
This project seeks to raise $10,000 to fight food insecurity in Fairbanks by supporting an incredible nonprofit organization, Leslie's Children - and with an amazingly generous matching donation of $5,000, we are already halfway there! Leslie's Children strives for the goal that no child shall go hungry. By partnering with the Fairbanks Community Food Bank and the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, Leslie's Children helps students who do not have food on the weekends and provides them with meals to take home. Every week, they send home 110 bags of food with children (about $1500 pounds of food every month!).
These funds will help them to continue to deliver food but they also need community support in the form of new partnerships and volunteers, in order to expand their services to more schools in Fairbanks - to get involved, you can email Joe Campbell now at leslieschildren@leslieschildren.org.
Leslie's Children was started in honor of Leslie Joan Campbell, a beloved, passionate, and celebrated Fairbanks educator of 37 years. Leslie was a vocal advocate for children, a pioneer in the field of special education and during her long career, and through her leadership and mentorship she helped to shape the future of our Fairbanks schools.
